What will my first day be like?

If you have never studied Spanish before, you will start your classes at once, but if you have some previous knowledge of Spanish, you will do a placement test so that DILE can place you in a group of your level.

The DILE teachers will explain your timetable and your course and will give you all the information you need.

You will also be given a guided tour of Salamanca, so that you can start to get to know the city and meet your new schoolmates.

he most convenient way is to travel by plane to Madrid-Barajas Airport.

If you wish, DILE can arrange a direct transfer from the airport to your accommodation address.

If you prefer to travel to Salamanca by yourself, the easiest way is to take a taxi from Madrid-Barajas Airport to one of the following stations (you can also go by bus or Metreo but you will have to change lines):

Coach station: Estación Sur de Autobuses – http://www.estacionautobusesmadrid.com

Av. Méndez Alvaro 83 – Tel. 902.02.09.99 – Tel. 915396302

An express service leaves Madrid EVERY HOUR and the journey time to Salamanca is 2.5 hours.

Train station: Madrid-Chamartín(http://www.renfe.es)

There are several trains per day and the journey time is also 2.5 hours.

When DILE confirms your enrolment you will also be sent information about your requested accommodation, a street plan of Salamanca, and the train and coach timetables from Madrid to Salamanca if you have not requested the airport transfer service.

When you arrive at the coach or train station in Salamanca you can take a taxi to your accommdoation address. If you have chosen host family accommodation and you have previously requested pick-up, the host family will meet you at the station.

There is also an optional pick-up service for students who have chosen accommodation in a student residence or student flat and who would like a DILE representative to meet them at the station.

If you are willing to combine study and fun, and if you work with the same enthusiasm that we put into fulfilling the learning aims, you will be surprised at how fast you can move up through the different levels.

Do I need a visa?

If you are not a citizen of a E.U. member state you may need a visa to study in Spain.

When DILE has received your enrolment and reservation fee, you will be sent an Enrolment Certificate which you should hand in at a Spanish Consulate in your country with your visa application.

Not included.

If you are a citizen of a E.U. member state you should go to your local Social Security office and request a European Health Card, which will give you free health cover.

Students who are not from E.U. member states are recommended to take out health insurance either in their own country or in Spain. If you choose to do the latter, DILE will help you to arrange this.

During the last year our students have come from the following countries:

– 10% from Asia (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China)

– 30% from the USA, Canada and Brazil

– 60% from Europe (Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, France, Belgium, Switzerland , Austria, Slovenia, Netherlands, Scandinavia, Hangary, Croatia, etc.)

At DILE the groups are very small, with an average of 4 students per class and a maximum of 8.

Every Monday of the year except holidays.

The minimum number of pupils per group in the standard courses is three. If there are fewer pupils enrolled on a course, DILE will propose alternative options for you.

No. The reservation fee is non-refundable, even if the student decides not to do the course. But if you have also paid the course fee, your money will be refunded if you cancel before the starting date of the course. You can see the conditions for cancellations and refunds in the section general conditions.

DILE can arrange accommodation for our students in Spanish host families, student residences, shared student flats or private apartments. If you prefer to stay in a hotel, hostel or “pension”, we can also help you to arrange this.

Remember that this is not necessary if you are a citizen of a E.U. member state because you will have free health care in Spain. However, if you come from a country that is not a member of the E.U. DILE can, if you wish, arrange private health insurance for you. The price is approximately 12 euros per month.
