FAQ

How do I get to DILE?
top
The easiest way to travel to Salamanca from other countries is by plane arriving at Madrid-Barajas Airport.
If you wish, DILE will arrange a transfer service for you from the airport to your accommodation address (see price list)

If you prefer to travel to Salamanca by yourself, the best way is to take a taxi from the airport (you can also go by underground or bus, but you will have to change lines) to:

• Auto-Res bus station, C/ Fernández Shaw (Conde Casal underground atation). There is an hourly express Madrid-Salamanca coach service, which takes two and a half hours.

• Madrid-Chamartín train station. There are several trains a day to Salamanca.

When DILE confirms your course enrolment, you will also be sent information about the accommodation you have requested, a street plan of Salamanca and the train and coach timetables from Madrid to help you if you have not requested airport transfer.

When you arrive at Salamanca train or bus station, you can take a taxi to your accommodation address. If you have arranged host family accommodation, the family will meet you at the station if you have requested it in advance.

We also offer an optional meeting service (see price list) to students with accommodation in University residences or student flats who would like a DILE representative to to meet them at the station.

What will happen on the first day?
top
If you have never studied Spanish before, you will start your classes straight away. If you have studied Spanish, you will do a placement test so that DILE can place you in the most suitable group.

After the placement test, we will take you on a guided tour of Salamanca to help you get to know the city.

The same day in the afternoon, DILE’s teachers will give you your class timetable and all the information you need.

At the end of the day, we will have a small welcome party where you can meet the rest of your schoolmates.

How much progress will I be able to make?
top
If you are ready to combine study and fun, and if you work with as much enthusiasm as we put into fulfilling our teaching aims, you will be surprised at how quickly you can go up from one level to the next.

Do I need a visa?
top
If you are not a citizen of a European Union member state, you will need a visa for your stay in Spain.

When we receive your enrolment, DILE will send you an Enrolment Certificate, which you will need for your visa application in a Spanish Embassy in your country.

Do I need health insurance?
top
  Not included.

If you are a citizen of a European Union member state, you should go to your local social security office and ask for the form which will cover you for health insurance in Spain.

If your country is not a member of the European Union, you can either take out an insurance policy in your country or in when you arrive Spain. DILE will help you to arrange a policy in Spain if you wish.
